Hasmonean Primary Schools

Hasmonean Primary School is one of Anglo Jewry's most established primary schools, having been set up in 1947 by Rabbi Dr Solomon Schonfeld to provide a Jewish and secular education for refugee children fleeing Nazi Europe. This proud heritage of 'Torah im derech eretz' continues to drive the vision of our school today.

As a one form entry school, Hasmonean is renowned for its welcoming and warm atmosphere, and ther eis a strong bond and community spirit between the staff, governers, parents and pupils which drive success throughout the school.

Thanks to our dedicated staff, led by Dr Alan Shaw, our pupils consistently achieve excellent standards in both secular and Jewish studies, with a high proportion of above-average results in the Key Stage 1 and 2 national tests. The children's education is further enhanced by numerous extra-curricular activities, including sport, music and drama, as well as a range of after-school clubs and topical outings.

At the heart of our school's ethos is an understanding of the importance of Tzedakah and Chessed. Our children regularly fundraise for a range of charities across our community and we are therefore very excited to take part in this year's Maccabi GB Community Fun Run!
